Uganda Police have verified an accident that happened at Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago’s house in Mengo on Saturday night involving a Subaru. A car reportedly lost control and crashed through the gate and into Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago’s Mengo house, according to a statement issued by the Police.
According to a statement made by Assistant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, “The territorial police at Old Kampala registered a serious accident where a vehicle, Subaru, silver in color registration number UAJ 704K allegedly lost control and rammed into the residence of the Lord Mayor for Kampala Elias Lukwago.”
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, about 7 o’clock, an accident occurred on Lukwago Road in Mengo, Rubaga Division. It was determined that the car was occupied by two people, including the driver, Fred Kiweewa, and a woman named Mariam.
Mariam, the passenger, reportedly suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital in Mulago. The driver was held in the Old Kampala Police Division while the accident’s cause was being investigated.
“Mariam sustained minor injuries and is admitted at Mulago hospital while Kiweewa is now detained at Old Kampala Police Division as investigations into the matter continue. Our team responded at the residence of the Lord Mayor to establish the facts behind the accident and more findings will be communicated in due course,” according to police.
The strange incident caused no bodily damage to the Lord Mayor or his family!
