Shamim Malende, a Kampala district woman Member of Parliament and senior NUP lawyer, was nearly assassinated this morning on Masaka Road by unknown assailants.
However, Mrs. Malende revealed on her Facebook page that she was attacked by unknown men this morning. While on her way to Masaka court for a bail application hearing for detained MPs Mohamed Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana.
“I have been attacked by unknown people on my way to Masaka court for the bail application of Hon Ssegirinya and hon Allan Ssewanyana and my car tyres deflated,” She said.
Shamim Malende, a staunch supporter of Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP), is one of the legislators’ lawyers who is representing them in their murder trial.
However, her assault comes just two days after another NUP member and Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze Bakireke was attacked at her home by unknown assailants. Betty Nambooze revealed how the Bijambiya men attacked her in her bedroom. Additionally, she narrates how they told her to say her last Prayer.
