Despite receiving a BET award, a couple Nickelodeon honors, and travel privileges to some of the most desired locations on earth, Eddy Kenzo still seems to want a bigger piece of the global pie. Just days after holding a big Eddy Kenzo Festival, singer Eddy Kenzo made headlines once more for all the right reasons by being nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards.
The 65th annual ceremony’s competing artists, albums, and songs were revealed this evening. The performance will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5, 2023. For his collaboration with Matt B on the song “Gimme Love,” Kenzo has been nominated in the category of Best Global Music Performance.
Competitors for their song include “Udhero Na,” by Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar, “Last Last,” by Burna Boy, “Neva Bow Down,” by Rocky Dawuni with Blvk H3ro, and “Bayethe,” by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode. The Afro-beats juggernaut is the first performer from Uganda to be nominated for a Grammy.
In 2015, Eddy Kenzo became the first performer from Uganda and East Africa to win a BET Award. Since then, he has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Africa’s and Nickelodeon Choice Awards, among others. Eddy Kenzo personally attended the 64th Grammy Awards ceremony earlier this year.
Since he started his singing career, Sitya Loss, Tweyagale, Viva Africa, Mbilo Mbilo, Enjoyment, Zigido, Kyomisinga, Bikyuuka, Hustle, and many others have been international hits for the BET Award winner Eddy Kenzo. Best wishes, Eddy Kenzo.
