His highness the Kyabazinga of Busoga Isebantu William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV will be celebrating his coronation today on 13 September, 2021.
Brief history of Kyabazinga.
The Kyabazinga of Busoga Gabula Nadiope IV was born on November 1, 1988. Gabula Nadiope IV is the reigning Kyabazinga of Busoga who came to the throne in 2014. He is the fourth Kyabazinga of Busoga. He is a son of Wilson Gabula Nadiope II and Josephine Nadiope.
His father was a minister of tourism in the Ugandan Government who died in 1991 and his mother died in 1993. Gabula was raised by his maternal grandmother in Jinja.
His Highness Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope III, ruled Busoga as the Kyabazinga from 1949 – 1955 and from 1962-1966. Nadiope III became the vice president of Uganda from 1962-1966.
Gabula Nadiope IV was elected by the Busoga Lukiiko (parliament) at Bugembe on 23 August, 2014. He was elected by the ten Busoga Royal Chiefs who convened at Bugembe. Prince Edward Columbus Wambuzi, the eleventh Royal Chief, claimed that the reigning Kyabazinga was unanimously elected.
The Prince didn’t attend the meeting during the election of the new Kyabazinga on 25 September, 2014.
Education and work
He started his Primary Education at Victoria Nile then Lohana Academy from 1995 until 2001. In 2002, he entered Busoga College Mwiri for his O-Level studies until 2005. He continued with his A-Level education, at Kyambogo College School, graduating in 2007. He was admitted to Kyambogo University, graduating in 2011, with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Economics. And at the time of his coronation, he was employed as an Economist in the Uganda Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He then went for further studies in the United Kingdom and graduated in 2015 with a First Class master’s degree in Business Administration (Management) at Coventry University.
The Line of Succession.
In the history of Busoga, Three past Kyabazingas have presided over the federated state of Busoga since 1939: Ezekiel Tenywa Wako, Yosia Nadiope and William Wilberforce Nadiope Kadhumbula. Gabula Nadiope IV the reigning Kyabazinga and is waiting for his coronation today.

The Katukiro (Prime Minister) of Busoga is Joseph Muvawala . The office of the Katukiro in the Kingdom is an important and a vital one. The Katukiro is the head of the kingdom’s government, and the spokesperson for the Kyabazinga and the kingdom.
