Africell Ug is a telecom company which has been in business in Uganda for seven years but recently it announced it’s closure. The announcement revealed that on 7 October 2021 Africell will end it’s services in Uganda.
Africell told it’s employees not to worry because they are to work up 30 November 2021 and all their salary will be paid. The company said in its notice that it took several months conducting a detailed assesment of their future in Uganda.
Africell customers are not happy since the Telecom company is said to have the cheapest data prices. Many Ugandans had joined the telecom company for it’s speed and cheap internet costs but it’s a big blow to them.
The company went ahead to send to it’s customers messages informing them of their closure of their operations in Uganda. “Africell Ug is ending mobile services in Uganda on 7 October 2021. We encourage you to consume all your airtime balance by then. For more info, visit http://announcements.africell.ug/.“
This is not the only business that has announced it’s end of operations in Uganda. Many businesses like one of which are Shoprite, games ug, and many other businesses and arcades have closed. This leaves the economy of the country in jeopardy. Uganda is one of the countries with many people below the poverty line. Many people survive by these companies to work as employees to earn a living.
