For the past few years, Ugandans have been impressed by singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool’s “Bebe Cool List,” a ranking of local musicians’ annual performances.
He usually gives his analysis and advice to different people on how to succeed in the music industry by pushing harder.
During an interview, Bebe revealed that, starting this year, he will convert the list into real awards, for which he has already set aside over 1.5 billion dollars.
“Bebe Cool’s list is going to be Bebecool awards starting this year. I’m going to be giving what Ugandans have never given out. It is going to be the only logical award in Africa. It will be the most amazing recognition. I want to give musicians what I have always wanted to receive. We have a budget of 1.5 to 2bn already for the awards and that’s even too small, this industry is too big,” Bebe Cool said.
He also mentioned how disrespectful Ugandan awards have been towards musicians.
“I want to stop these things of giving musicians glasses and disrespecting us,” He added.
