AFRIMA named Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo, born Edris Musuuza, Top East African Male Artist of the Year on Monday.
The “Weekend” hitmaker was up against Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz, Harmonize, and Alikiba, Rwanda’s Meddy. And The Ben, Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones and Otile Brown, and Ethiopia’s Gildo Kassa for the award.
Despite the fact that many people came out to congratulate Kenzo and assure him that he won because of his hard work and good music, NBS television’s Douglas Lwanga believes otherwise.
During his After 5 show on Monday, Douglas congratulated Kenzo but claimed that Kenzo won the award because of his fans, not because of his talent.
“Eddy Kenzo won Afrima award and we congratulate him upon the achievement but I also think his fans are just active on social media. They practically vote for him even when he is not the best,” he said.
However, it should be remembered that Douglas Lwanga recently won Best Entertainment Host 2020 In AEAUSA. This makes him commendable and loved by fans.
