Since the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) elections began, singer Douglas Mayanja, a.k.a. Weasel Manizo, has remained silent.
So far, the proceedings have been marred by controversy, including the theft of documents, the postponement of polling dates, and the arrest of some contestants.
The most recent development is King Saha’s threat to swear himself in as the new UMA president.
Some people even believed Weasel Manizo was not a member of the association until he was asked to comment on the issues and clarify whether he is still a member of UMA.

The singer stressed that he has no time to waste on UMA election issues because the organization is in disarray.
Weasel described how he values his freedom and peace of mind, and how he despises working under duress.
He went on to say that he stepped back to allow those who can handle confusion to run, and that he will follow whoever wins the polls.
