During the Eddy Kenzo Festival, many things took place, one of these were the legendary artistes (Bebe Cool and Chameleone) who attended the festival. While performing, Bebe Cool got concerned about the number of people who attended the festival. While speaking on stage, he was critical of Nigerian performers, the Gagamel boss believes that it is time for Ugandans to support homegrown entertainers.
“We are tired of Nigerian artistes coming here and act as though they have more fans from here. I implore everyone who has come and supported Kenzo to also come and support my little brother Jose Chameleone for his Gwanga Mujje concert next year at cricket oval,” said Bebe Cool.
The statements made by the vocalist of were based on the fact that three Nigerian performers were in Uganda for weekend music events in Kampala. These artists include Ladipoe, who performed at Nomad Bar, and Oxlade, who was scheduled to perform at the Big Show concert at Cricket Oval but didn’t because he never got paid. Ada Ehi, a gospel performer, also had a concert at Hockey Grounds.
More than eight Nigerian performers have performed in Uganda this year alone, including Tiwa Savage, Chike, Ruger, Rema, Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Kizz Daniel, and Fire Boy. Yemi Alade will shortly perform at Blankets and Wine.
