Swangz Avenue is currently Uganda’s top record label, home to some of the country’s most talented artists. Fik Fameica, Winnie Nwagi, Vinka, and their most popular artist, Azawi, are among these artists.
It is an honor for an artist to be signed by a record label. This is because one can be confident that they have a good chance of success because all of their artists are well-known in the entertainment industry.
While many assumed that the company was focusing solely on Azawi and was unwilling to consider other artists, they signed a new talent last week named Zafaran, real name Josephine Nakyoonyi.
In addition, a video was posted on their social media platforms announcing the young girl’s signing. In the video, she can be seen signing a contract with her lawyers and being greeted by Azawi.
Swangz Avenue announced on social media, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Introducing @Iam_Zafaran“
However, Zafaran is not a new face in Uganda’s music scene, having recently been seen supporting singers King Saha and Jose Chameleone during their Tusker Malt Conversessions performances.
Signing new artists may pose a threat to the label’s existing members, but Benon Mugumbya, the label’s manager, stated in a recent interview that old artists should not be concerned because the label intends to keep them while also adding a few new talents.
