The Girl in the Yellow Jumper, directed by Loukman Ali, will premiere on Netflix next week, making it the first Ugandan film on the platform.
Firstly, ‘The Girl in the Yellow Jumper,’ a Ugandan thriller with a running time of 1 hour and 20 minutes, was released in 2020. Loukman Ali directed the film.
The film follows a man who escapes a hostage situation and returns home with a story to tell. In addition, it stars several top Ugandan actors.
However, the film stars Maurice Kirya, Morocco Omari, Michael Wawuyo Jnr, Rehema Nanfuka, Phillip Luswata, and Gladys Oyenbot, among others.
On Thursday, Loukman shared the exciting news that his first film will be on Netflix, breaking down barriers.
“Can’t believe this is going to be the first Ugandan movie on Netflix, my first film is the first Ugandan film on Netflix. I can officially call myself a professional filmmaker! It’s dropping next week.”

Netflix Inc. is an American production company and pay television over-the-top media service that provides subscription-based video on demand from a library of films and television series, 40% of which is original programming produced in-house.
In addition, several of Loukman’s friends, fans, and followers, including well-known celebrities, have already begun sending him congratulations.
Viboyo Oweyo, a veteran singer, thanks Loukman for “opening doors for all Ugandans.”
