Singer Spice Diana has found herself in hot water with some of her fans lately. Her participation in Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Thanksgiving celebration drew criticism from a group of NUP supporters. They accused her of betraying her longtime friend Bobi Wine by performing at his rival’s event.
When asked about her relationship with Bobi Wine and his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, Spice Diana was quick to defend herself. She stated that she had unparalleled respect for the couple because they understood the nature of her job as a musician.
“They are like family to me,” she said. “And they have always been supportive of my career. They know that as a musician, I have to perform for different audiences. And they have no problem with that.”
Spice Diana went on to explain that the criticism she had received was not really about her relationship with Bobi Wine. “It’s just a group of people who have their own agenda,” she said. “They’re using me as a scapegoat to push their own agenda.”
It’s not the first time Spice Diana has found herself in the middle of a political controversy. In 2020, she was criticized for performing at a campaign event for President Yoweri Museveni. Some fans accused her of selling out and abandoning her roots.
But despite the criticism, Spice Diana has remained steadfast in her support for her fellow musicians. She believes that music should bring people together, not tear them apart. And she is determined to use her platform to spread a message of unity and love.
