Congratulations to Sheilah Gashumba of Uganda, who was named Influencer of the Year at the 2021 ASEA awards on Wednesday.
The African Social Entertainment Awards (ASEA), established in 2018, honor Africans’ lifestyle and social entertainment.
The Mzansi-based awards aim to recognize the ever-expanding social media industry while also providing a factual representation of African lifestyle to other continents.
The 2021 ASEAs took place on December 15, 2021. Social media acted as the platform for the distribution of the awards.
Firstly, Zari Hassan and Sheilah Gashumba, both from Uganda, were nominees in different categories.
They however competed for Influencer of the Year, and fans had to vote on who they thought was the better influencer this year.
The 25-year-old NBS TV presenter, socialite, and influencer was the night’s youngest nominee in the highly competitive category.
In addition, Sheilah won the category by the end of the night.
However Zari Hassan, Nelisiwe Sibiya, Hillary Makaya, Zim Finest Lips, and Zim Laughter were among the competitors.
