Tragedy struck on the roads of Kamdini, Uganda as a truck belonging to National Medical Stores (NMS) overturned and resulted in the death of the driver. The truck, with registration number UBJ 625X, was carrying a shipment of life-saving medicines from Kampala to Lira when the accident occurred at Elolo, just after the Kamdini corner.
According to witnesses, when they got to Loro at about 6:30 in the morning, the driver lost control and the car overturned because a tire blew. The driver, who remains unidentified, died on the spot. The police were quick to respond to the scene and secure the dispersed medications. However, a report on the cause of the accident has not yet been released by the authorities.
Meanwhile, truck drivers who spoke to our website have attributed the accident to the poor state of the road. They say that the road is narrow and not easy to overtake, making it a dangerous route for truckers carrying vital supplies such as medical supplies. This highlights the importance of maintaining roads and ensuring they are up to standard, to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.
