Madrat and Chiko, a comedy duo, have risked the wrath of modern-day deejays and emcees after making scathing remarks about their importance to the music industry.
The two comedians expressed their displeasure after alleging that Ugandan DJs exaggerate their importance in the music industry.
It is widely assumed that DJs play an important role in music promotion by providing airplay to singers in bars, disco halls, and nightclubs. However, Madrat and Chiko believe that they do not put in enough effort to be superior, so they look down on artists.
In an interview with local television, Madrat and Chiko stated that they now understand why Jose Chameleone used to beat up DJs. Because they have developed a habit of being nosy and arrogant and failing to stay in their lane.
“DJs play a role towards the success of a song and an artiste as a whole however, Ugandan DJs tend to overrate their importance. Some even overlook musicians and it is the reason why Jose Chameleon used to beat them,” Madrat and Chiko both stated.
In Uganda, there have always been scandals involving artistes and DJs, particularly in bars and clubs. As the two camps squabble over matters of disrespect. Years ago, Mowzey Radio (RIP) was arrested for assaulting a deejay and tossing his laptop into a swimming pool. This happened because he was unable to play his music.
