Five years later, Aziz Azion believes he can still record a song with Diamond Platnumz. A collaboration promised by the WCB boss in 2016.
Diamond Platnumz, who was still in his early twenties at the time, recognized the talent of Ugandan singer Aziz Azion in 2016.
The Tanzanian singer then proposed working with the multi-talented Aziz Mukasa a.k.a. Aziz Azion.
However, at the time, the Ugandan guitarist, songwriter, and singer did not have enough funds to sponsor the visuals, despite the fact that Diamond consistently released world-class visuals.
“I was asked for $20,000 for the music video,” Aziz Azion revealed this to Douglas Lwanga on NTV Uganda in 2017.
Aziz decided to postpone the collaboration in the hopes that his finances would improve and the collaboration would be implemented.
During a recent television interview, Aziz Azion stated that, unfortunately, not everything went as planned. And he has never had the collaboration.
He believes, however, that he can still approach Diamond whenever he is ready because the Wasafi boss did not specify a time frame for the collaboration to take place.
Aziz also mentioned that Diamond is a fan of his work and that the two are friends. Aziz also revealed that his friends and fans have expressed interest in funding the anticipated collaboration, and that it could actually happen.
“He (Diamond Platnumz) didn’t give me a time frame…he is my fan and friend. I can still work with him. This is an opportunity for Ugandan music to shine and my fans are willing to sponsor the project.” Aziz Azion revealed.
In the last five years, the value of Diamond has increased, as have the costs of recording good audio or filming a music video.
