Kin Kariisa, the boss of Nxt Radio, announced a few weeks ago that he was firing everyone and that they would have to reapply for jobs, Marcus Kwikiriza was among those who lost their jobs.
According to the most recent Next Media sources, Marcus has been promoted to Head of Strategic Business from Next Radio General Manager.
“Following my recent communication regarding the realignment of Next Radio, Mr Marcus Kwikiriza shall now focus as the group Head of Strategic Business in line with the growth plans of the strategic business desk. The realignment is effective immediately, and management shall make further communication regarding Next Radio changes in due course. We urge all transformers to support the teams in their respective responsibilities as we strive to be the leading multimedia group for East Africa.” Kin Kariisa, Group CEO, stated in an internal memo to staff.
Marcus Kwikiriza returned from retirement to become the General Manager of Next Radio, which debuted in 2018. He began by collaborating with Karitas to host the Morning Zoo.
Marcus announced his retirement from radio in 2021 in order to focus on his General Manager role and take on his new role as Head of Strategic Business Next Media Services. He now only works at Next Media Park in his latter role, as well as as a presenter on NBS Television’s “Another Round.”
