Joseph Musasizi, better known by his TikTok username Jose Chakala or Landlord, has taken the Ugandan entertainment industry by storm with his humorous skits that emulate the country’s landlords. At just 21 years old, Chakala has become a household name, thanks to the massive following he has amassed on TikTok.
Chakala joined TikTok in 2022 and picked inspiration from Italian social media personality Khaby Lame. Before discovering his passion for skits and TikTok, Chakala was a dancer. He attended Mbalala Primary School in Mukono and Mabira Primary School, Najjembe, for his primary education. He then attended Mabira Forest Secondary School for higher education.
Chakala’s fame on TikTok has changed his life in many ways. He has gained celebrity status, won several awards, and earned more money than ever before. He attributes his success to his love for acting, which he has always wanted to do more than dancing.
Despite his success, Jose Chakala has faced some challenges, such as criticism and the high costs involved in creating quality content. He acknowledges that some people have used TikTok for wrongdoing, which has created a negative perception of TikTokers in the public eye. However, he is confident that content creators like him, who use TikTok positively, have a bright future ahead of them.
Chakala has expanded his horizons beyond TikTok and has released his first song titled “Landlord” featuring YahBoy. He plans to release more music projects in the future but is most excited about creating a reputable film company aimed at promoting young actors. Jose Chakala dreams of raising the bar of the Ugandan film industry and hopes to one day be one of the biggest creators of African films.
Chakala’s success story is proof that with hard work, dedication, and passion, anyone can achieve their dreams. As he ventures into film and music, we wish him the best of luck on his adventure. His success has inspired many young Ugandans to pursue their passions and follow in his footsteps.
