Ugandan rapper Alex Kwesigabo, also known as Flex D’paper, released his highly anticipated album titled ‘Kampala Boy’ on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Firstly, ‘Kampala Boy’ is Flex’s first album in all the years he’s been doing music, dating back to his first song release in 2010.
Other however artists on the 14-track album include Navio, A Pass, Lagum the Rapper, Fik Fameica, and Mozelo Kidz, among others.
It also has a surprising element, as Flex, who is best known for his sick flows and bars, delves into other music genres on a few tracks on this album.
Hip-hop, R&B, Soul, Afro-pop, and Dancehall are all represented on ‘Kampala Boy,’ an album for the whole family to enjoy.
In an interview with MBU in October, the soft-spoken Rapaholix Music CEO revealed that the new album was intended to elevate Ugandan Hip Hop and bring to light the many hidden top talents within the genre.
“This project is my battle cry for Ugandan Hip Hop to get noticed out there. Most genres are a bit more popular than Hip Hop here in Uganda and yet there is a lot of talent in Ugandan Hip Hop. This album is a showcase of that,” Flex noted.
The album’s title was inspired by the fact that Flex was born and raised in Kampala, where he began performing music about ten years ago.
