According to the Uganda Human Rights Commission and other reports, Father Simon Lokodo died this morning in Switzerland.
“It’s with great shock and pain that we‘ve learnt of the passing of our Honourable Member of the Commission, Fr. Simon Lokodo. He passed on this morning in Geneva Switzerland. The Commission will share details in due course. May the Almighty Rest His Soul in Eternal Peace,” The Commission issued a tweet.
The cause of his death has yet to be determined, but it will be announced soon.
When he was the minister, Father Simon Lokodo made headlines for his efforts to combat pornography in Uganda. Many Ugandan celebrities were against him because he was also against certain concerts such as the “Nyege Nyege festival.”
Father Simon Lokodo Biography
Simon Lokodo (28 October 1957 – 29 January 2022) was a Ugandan politician who served as Uganda’s Minister of State for Ethics and Integrity in the President’s Office since 2011. From 2009 to 2011, he was the Minister of State for Industry. He was also an elected Member of Parliament for Dodoth County, Kaabong District, from 2006 until he lost his seat in January 2021. He was a member of the Uganda Human Rights Commission at the time of his death on January 29, 2022, and was on a working trip in Geneva, Switzerland.
On October 28, 1957, he was born in the Kaabong District. Simon Lokodo graduated from Pontifical Urbaniana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. His Master of Arts in Theology was also earned at the same Rome university. He also has a Diploma in Rural Sociology, a Diploma in Social Communication, a Diploma in Philosophy and Social Science, and a Certificate in Italian. He earned a Diploma in Theology from Makerere University, Uganda’s first university, which was founded in 1922. Lokodo also has a Certificate in German Language from an Austrian institution and a Certificate in French Language from a Parisian institution.
He was said to be fluent in English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish.
