Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo, real name Edrisah Musuuza, added another trophy to his collection with a win at the 2021 AFRIMA Awards.
The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs) are a series of awards that aim to honor Africa’s diverse musical heritage.
Seven Ugandans were nominated for the 2021 AFRIMAs, including Kenzo, Rema, Spice, Afrie, Shivanah, B2C, and Bebe Cool.
After winning this award for the second time, Kenzo demonstrates that he is unquestionably one of the most talented musicians on the African continent.
The awards took place on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria. Where an entourage of African acts converged.
At the conclusion of the red carpet event, Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo was name the winner of the Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa category.
Kenzo’s hit song “Weekend” helped him beat out other top acts in the category. It however included Diamond Platnumz, Sauti Sol, Ali Kiba, and Harmonize.
Kenzo beat out other East African music icons such as Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, and Ali Kiba, Rwanda’s music goat Meddy and The Ben, Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones, and Otile Brown, and Ethiopia’s Gildo Kassa to win the award.
