Cinderella Sanyu alias Cindy Sanyu has been appointed president of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) following the body’s unsuccessful election process.
Following the cancellation of the UMA elections a few months ago, the public has been wondering about the body’s future plans.
Critics questioned how such an important organization could fail to hold elections and how it planned to move forward.
Cindy Sanyu, the former president, took over as president of UMA on Wednesday.
Cindy revealed her re-election as president by sharing a photo of herself with former leaders Phina Mugerwa, Justin Bas, and Renah Nalumansi.
At a press conference yesterday, the singer confirmed that the old guard is back in charge, as the association plans to improve the electoral process in the future.
“We have work to do as an association so we can’t continue without anyone in the office,” Cindy Sanyu stated during the press conference.
Cindy stated that the association must continue to operate and thus requires people to be restored to their respective offices.
Cindy has reclaimed full possession of the UMA offices, according to a public statement shared on the UMA social media pages.
“The Executive Committee led by the president, takes full possession of UMA offices and full responsibility of affairs of the association…the offices are now open and members can come in for member services.”
