Margaret Nagawa Siwoza Muyanja, alias Queen Mother, has died. Namasole is the King’s mother in Buganda.
King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ll and the people of Buganda are mourning the death of Queen, who died on Wednesday morning.
“Namasole wa Buganda Margaret Nagawa Siwoza Muyanja aseeredde, Namasole ye Maama was Kabaka. Twakuumye bubi ayi Ssabasajja Kabaka,” They posted.
Buganda TV, BBS Television however broadcasted the news of her death.
The King’s subjects have flooded social media with condolences.
“Oh dear!! No Wow!! This is sad. May our God almighty comfort our King and the entire Buganda Kingdom in this distressing moment. May her soul RIP,” Ritah Mugerwa mourns.
Meaning of Namasole
In Buganda, a Namasole is the widow of a deceased King (Kabaka) who bears the throne’s heir.
Namasole is one of the most powerful women in Buganda. The Namasole is the widow of a Kabaka who died but left behind children who can succeed to the throne.
