As the Ugandan music industry continues to advance, it faces its greatest threat – ongoing battles between artists. Among the prominent names caught in a blazing feud are the legendary female singers, Cindy Sanyu and Sheebah Karungi.
Accusations have flown back and forth, with Sheebah Karungi repeatedly pointing fingers at Cindy, claiming that she has constructed a mansion despite joining the music scene after her. However, Cindy responded to Sheebah during an interview, emphasizing that building a house is distinct from being a successful artist.
During the interview, Cindy took the opportunity to school Sheebah, citing that even Boda Boda riders have managed to build houses. For Cindy, building a house doesn’t necessarily make Sheebah a superior singer.
“Yes you built a house, congratulations but you’re not the first person to build, Boda Boda guys have houses. Polish your music it’s your responsibility as an artiste, you will never bring your house on stage” Cindy stated firmly.
Despite the heated battle, Cindy the UMA president declared that she refuses to engage in a war of words with UNMF vice president Sheebah, viewing her more like a child than a rival. She went on to disclose that she regards Sheebah as her own kid, and to emphasize this point, she shared that she even penned Sheebah’s debut song when the latter was just entering the industry.
As the feud between these two talented artists continues, it serves as a reminder that success in the music industry should be measured by one’s musical prowess, not material possessions. Only time will tell if this clash will be resolved amicably or escalate into further discord.
