After just eleven months at Next Radio, renowned media personality Maritza, born Martha Byoga, has announced that she is leaving to focus on her new journey as a spoken word artist. Although Maritza has been a radio presenter, content creator, and events host, she has decided to devote more of her time and energy to becoming a better person and influencer than just being a radio presenter.
Maritza’s passion for storytelling and words has been evident throughout her career, and now she hopes to create new pieces, connect with new audiences, and bring fresh energy to the spoken word scene. This decision may come as a surprise to some of her fans, especially those who have been enjoying her co-hosting of “The Morning Switch” show with Hakim The Dream and Richard Tuwangye, which airs from 6 AM to 10 AM Monday to Friday.
Maritza has always been known for her vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and ability to bring life to any function she hosts. Her departure from Next Radio may leave a void for those who have come to appreciate her skills as a radio presenter, but her new journey as a spoken word artist promises to be equally fulfilling.
Maritza’s decision to focus on spoken word comes at a time when this art form is gaining popularity in Uganda and beyond. Spoken word artists use words to create performances that can be powerful, thought-provoking, and entertaining. This new journey may allow Maritza to explore her creativity and connect with a new audience, as well as inspire others who are considering a career in spoken word.
As Maritza bids farewell to Next Radio, she leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and excellence. Her fans will undoubtedly miss her infectious energy and humor, but they can look forward to the new chapter in her career as a spoken word artist. As she embarks on this new journey, we wish her all the best and look forward to seeing what the future holds for her.
