The Ebola virus has been infected by seven members of one household in Kampala, according to the Ministry of Health. The family got in touch with the person who passed away at Kiruddu Hospital. As the number of Ebola cases reaches 10, city authorities have established toll-free numbers to call.
The seven infected individuals were among the nine instances that were verified in Kampala, according to Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister of Health. The victim from Kasanda was treated at the clinic by her husband, a health worker, and his wife.
“The nine cases are of the fatal case who came from Kassanda district and passed on in Mulago Hospital. Seven family members are from Masanafu and one health worker who managed him in a private clinic together with his wife from Seguku,” Dr. Aceng stated.
Fourteen (14) Ebola cases have been confirmed in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area in the last 48 hours, up from the five that were initially reported. In order to stop the virus from taking over the city, she urged the populace to be extremely vigilant.
“Fellow Ugandans, let’s be vigilant. Report yourself if you have had contact or know of a person who has had contact. Let us cooperate to end Ebola,” Aceng said.
The two remaining cases came from the Mulago Isolation Unit and were later sent to the Entebbe Ebola Treatment Unit. As of this morning, Monday, October 24, nine fresh instances have been reported, according to Aceng.
“The nine cases are contacts of the fatal case who came from Kassanda District and passed on in Mulago Hospital,” Aceng said.
The infected family is a Masanafu, Kampala, inhabitant. In the meanwhile, the public can contact Kampala Capital City Authority via a toll-free number and WhatsApp lines to report suspected Ebola cases or to request information about the virus.
In order to assist the quick transfer of patients throughout the city, they have also purchased ambulances.
Since the virus’s breakout on September 19, 28 people have died from it, while 26 have recovered completely. 1,746 persons are on the follow-up list, and 19 active cases are on admission.
