Today, February 1, 2022, marks four years since the death of Good Lyfe icon Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo, also known as Mowzey Radio and Moses Radio of the popular music duo Radio and Weasel.
Radio died on February 1, 2018 at Case Clinic in Kampala from a blood clot in his brain caused by a bar brawl a few days earlier in Entebbe. He was laid to rest in Wakiso District at Nakawuka.
However, it should be noted that on October 31, 2019, the man accused of murder, Godfrey Wamala (Troy), was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Born and raised in the Jinja District of the Busoga Subregion, he attended Kibuye Primary School in Makindye. Holy Cross Lake View Jinja for his O’level, and Kiira College Butiki for his A’level. He later enrolled at Makerere University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Sociology in 2005.
Radio released his first solo song, “Tujja Kuba Wamu,” in 2004 while studying psychology at Makerere University, before joining the Leone Island Music Empire in 2005.
He began as a backup singer for Jose Chameleone, alongside Weasel.
He achieved his first level of success in 2005, when he released “Jennifer,” a reggae love song.
Mowzey Radio released another song, “Sweet Lady,” in 2006. The song became popular to Ugandans in and outside the country and a big fan base welcomed it.
Radio and Weasel Start Goodlyfe
Mowzey Radio, Weasel, and Jose Chameleone toured the United States and the Caribbean in October 2007.
Radio and Weasel had misunderstandings with Jose Chameleone before returning home. Following disagreements between Jose Chameleone and the two, they left the group and formed the successful Goodlyfe Crew.
“Nakudata” was their first song, followed by “Ngamba” and others. He collaborated with musicians such as Rabadaba on the song “Ability” with Weasel, produced by Just Jose.
Throughout his singing career, he collaborated with both local and international artists, winning awards and receiving several nominations, including BET nominations.
Radio and Weasel had numerous hits in 2014, including “Ability”, “Akapapula”, “Bread and Butter”, “Hellenah” ft David Lutalo, “Juice Juicy”, “Lwaki Onnumya”, “Magnetic”, “Mr DJ”, “Mukama Talya Mandazi”, “Ngenda Maaso”, “Nyambula”, “Nyumbani”, “Obudde”, “Potential.”
In addition, Ethan of Miss Uganda 2008 Dora Mwima, Radio had two children with Ugandan artiste and radio presenter Lillian Mbabazi, and another with his Caucasian girlfriend Karen Gammeltoft.
