Dancehall singer Zex Bilangilangi, known by his real name Tadius Mayega Zziwa, is eagerly anticipating the upcoming music festival slated to take place before the culmination of the current year. In recent times, there has been a noticeable trend among musicians embracing music festivals as a means to commemorate their artistic journeys alongside their dedicated fan base.
Joining the ranks of Ugandan musicians who have treaded this path, Zex Bilangilangi is now setting his sights on organizing a music festival, following several years dedicated to nurturing his musical career. Rooted in the gritty surroundings of Kamwokya’s ghettos, Zex’s foray into the world of music commenced at the age of 17, driven by a fervent desire to employ his innate talent as a catalyst for positive change within his community.
The propulsion of his career materialized through the influential support of Bobi Wine, who recognized Zex’s potential and subsequently integrated him into the Fire Base, harnessing his capabilities that shone through during a talent search event.
Since that pivotal juncture, Zex has charted an unwavering trajectory, exemplified by the unveiling of his breakthrough track titled “Ratata,” which garnered widespread acclaim amid the backdrop of the Covid-19 lockdown. Further cementing his presence, Zex’s hits such as “Wikid,” “Nalinda,” and his “Hercules” EP not only fortified his artistic stronghold but also expanded his ardent following under the guidance of mentor Bobi Wine.
The forthcoming festival, a testament to Zex Bilangilangi’s musical voyage, is poised to transpire at a yet-to-be-disclosed location. Marking the calendar for August 26, 2023, the self-proclaimed “Ghetto Prime Minister” has designated this date for the festival’s festivities, with entry tickets pegged at Ugx 20,000.
With the dissemination of the festival poster, a palpable surge of enthusiasm has surged from both the singer’s devoted fan base and his contemporaries within the celebrity sphere, foreshadowing an event brimming with artistic revelry.
