Swangz Avenue singer, Winnie Nwagi, has taken a stand against dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu’s habit of demeaning fellow musicians in the Ugandan music industry. Cindy has long regarded herself as superior to many female artists, and this has not sat well with Winnie.
During Cindy’s recent Comeback concert activation at the Rozaho hangout spot in Kololo, she was asked to name female musicians who she believed could measure up to her talent. Cindy responded by claiming that since Grace Nakimera lost her musical prowess, there have been no other female artists who could match her.
Regarding Karole Kasita, Cindy asserted that she played a significant role in nurturing her talent and therefore wouldn’t compete with her, referring to her as a kid.
When it came to Winnie Nwagi, Cindy acknowledged her talent but asserted that she was still a young brand compared to herself. This response left Winnie feeling disappointed, and she expressed her feelings during a recent appearance on NTV’s The Beat show.
Winnie revealed that she had come across several instances on social media where Cindy belittled fellow female musicians. She urged Cindy to show humility and stop attacking and ranking her peers.
Despite her disappointment, Winnie made it clear that she has always admired Cindy and never said anything negative about her. She emphasized that everyone has their path, and comparing and ranking artists serves no purpose.
“I love Cindy so much, I’ve never attacked her even behind the camera and I always say good things about her but I was shocked to see her ranking me. Stop raking people. We all know where we are supposed to be, you get, and God created us everyone has their luck so I am not supposed to be where Cindy is or going.” said Winnie Nwagi.
