King Saha, the renowned singer from Kings Love Entertainment, has made a bold move. Ssemanda Manisul, known as King Saha, has declared himself the new Governor of the Bank of Uganda. This declaration comes as the country enters its third year without an official governor.
The position has been vacant since the passing of Mutebile Emmanuel Tumusiime in January 2022. Since then, Deputy Governor Michael Atingi-Ego, appointed in March 2020, has led the bank. However, there has been no formal appointment to fill the top position.
In a surprising turn, King Saha made his announcement before his colleagues. “I take this opportunity to announce myself as the new Governor of Bank of Uganda,” Saha said. “The post has stayed vacant for too long without anyone stepping up. No one is actually asking for it.”
He continued, stating, “The signature you will see on the new money notes will be mine. This is not bravery but a responsibility. It is upon us to clean our house. I announced myself because of the time we have taken without a bank governor.”
His declaration was met with cheers from his friends, showing support for his audacious move. While it remains to be seen how the authorities will respond, King Saha’s proclamation has certainly stirred the waters. This bold statement highlights the ongoing issues within Uganda’s banking sector.
The prolonged vacancy at such a crucial position raises questions about the country’s financial leadership. The announcement of King Saha as new governor Bank of Uganda, though unconventional, brings attention to the need for prompt action.
