Comedian Obed Lubega, known as Reign, has announced his candidacy for the Rubaga South MP seat in 2026. Reign made this declaration on Sunday during the “Soyi Soyi” comedy show at Theatre La Bonita in Kampala.
“I am going to contest as a Member of Parliament for Rubaga South, come what may,” Reign confidently told the audience. The crowd erupted with excitement and cheers, showing strong support for his decision. If elected, Reign will join a notable list of entertainers who have transitioned into politics.
This list includes the late Kato Lubwama, Bobi Wine, Geoffrey Lutaaya, and Dr. Hilderman.
