A Pentecostal Pastor in Mityana District, pastor Samuel Kalibbala has been arrested after allegedly disappearing with more than 20 members of his church.
Pastor Samuel Kalibbala was arrested with a group of 12 people at his home in Naama Village, Busimbi Division, Mityana Municipality, on Friday morning.
Pastor Kalibbala, his wife, and their children are said to have vanished along with some of his followers from Naama Central Village in Busimbi Division Mityana Municipality.
Residents of Naama Central Village claim that Kalibbala and his wife are former primary school teachers who rented a room in Naama Trading Center and have been running an unnamed church.
Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, says the Pastor was apprehended based on intelligence-led information.
Kintu, a man, reported his wife Jessica Namuwaya and their four children missing to the police. He claims they vanished from their home in Mityana District’s Naama Central Village.
It is claimed that Kalibbala, a member of Shalom, left the church where he used to congregate with his family, claiming that he received a message from God to go to another location to begin the mission and that he was followed by his wife, but their whereabouts are unknown.
Pastor Kalibbala’s arrest followed that of Pastor Twajila Yesu Benard, owner of a Prayer Mountain in Ttammu Village, and his follower Eric Kawuki.
According to residents of Naama Central Village, a number of people left their homes and families to accompany the pastor on an unknown journey.
