Grenade Official recently shared the inspiration behind his controversial song ‘Mbwa Mwe.’ He revealed that the song, which he released in May, stemmed from a deep sense of betrayal he experienced at the time. “I was dealing with some serious personal issues,” Grenade confessed in an interview. “I wasn’t trying to insult anyone directly, but I felt like I needed to express my anger. The word ‘dog’ was used to symbolize those who had wronged me.”
The song, translated to mean ‘You Dogs,’ is filled with intense emotion and speaks to the pain of betrayal. Grenade Official admits that recording the Mbwa Mwe helped him process what he was going through. “Sometimes, people can really become a problem in your life,” he said, emphasizing that the anger in his lyrics reflected his state of mind then.
Interestingly, Grenade Official has since turned over a new leaf. After recently giving his life to Christ at Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s church, he announced that he’s now a changed man. “I’ve left everything to God,” he declared. “I won’t be recording songs like that again. I forgive everyone who hurt me.”
Despite this change, Grenade stands by his song, noting that it resonated with many who have been hurt. “People related to the song because they’ve experienced similar pain,” he said. “But I’ve moved on, and so should they.”
Grenade Official’s journey from anger to forgiveness is a testament to the power of music as a means of expression and healing. Although he has moved past the issues that inspired ‘Mbwa Mwe,’ the song remains a powerful reminder of the struggles that many face and overcome.
