The police have arrested a 39-year-old man in Amuria district for slapping the Minister of State for Works and Transport, Hon Musa Ecweru.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at around 11:30am in Wera parish, Wera sub-county, Amuria district, according to ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg, the PRO East Kyoga.
During the Sunday service at St. Micheal Catholic Church, an individual identified as Okurut Micheal, a 39-year-old male adult, approached the altar with the other congregants.
He knelt and received his blessings.
Okurut then stood up and slapped the minister while he was giving his sermon.
Minister’s bodyguards quickly caught the man who wanted to add the minister another hot slap.
“No harm was occasioned on the Minister’s person,” ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg stated.
However, the Wera Police Station opened up a case and filed statements from both the minister and the man.
The suspect is now at the same station as inquiries and investigations into the incident begin.
“Updates shall accordingly be availed as they are ascertained,” ASP Ageca Oscar Gregg continued.
Hon Musa Ecweru is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Amuria County, Amuria District.
