Last Stop Larrimah is a 2023 Australian documentary film directed by Thomas Tancred and produced by Mel Eslyn. The film tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of Paddy Moriarty, a resident of the remote Outback town of Larrimah, in December 2017.
Moriarty’s disappearance sparked a police investigation that uncovered a long history of infighting and paranoia among the town’s 11 residents. The film explores the complex relationships between the residents and their shared sense of isolation in the harsh Outback landscape.
Director
Thomas Tancred is an Australian filmmaker who has directed a number of documentaries, including The Fear of 13 (2015) and Ghosthunter (2017). He is also the co-founder of the production company Kina Lime, which specializes in telling stories from regional and remote Australia.
Writers
The screenplay for Last Stop Larrimah was written by Tancred and Eslyn. The pair spent a number of months in Larrimah, interviewing the residents and getting to know the town. They also worked closely with the Moriarty family to ensure that the film accurately reflects their story.
