In an unexpected turn of events, Ugandan singer Jovan Luzinda and his entourage found themselves in the midst of a violent incident during a Christmas performance in Masaka. The chaos unfolded when the singer, along with his manager and crew, demanded full payment before taking the stage.
According to Jovan Luzinda, he had been booked for a 7-Dayz performance, with the event organizers providing a deposit of Ugx 1M. However, on the day of the event, tensions escalated when the singer refused to perform until the remaining balance was settled.
Addressing the crowd through the microphone, Jovan Luzinda made it clear that he wouldn’t budge until his payment was cleared. This unexpected announcement infuriated the event organizers, who claimed the performance fell short of their expectations and insisted the singer fulfill his commitment.
Despite the escalating tension, Luzinda stood firm in his decision. In a drastic turn of events, the organizers resorted to violence, attempting to attack the singer. Fortunately, Jovan Luzinda managed to evade harm and escape unscathed. However, his manager, who courageously tried to shield him, ended up injured, sustaining injuries to his eyes and teeth during the altercation.
To restore order, the Mbirizi Police intervened, firing warning shots into the air. In the chaos that ensued, one police officer suffered a fractured limb. The police confiscated 7-Dayz equipment, including guitars, while some members of the event management were arrested pending further investigation.
