Eddy Yawe, the singer and politician, has shed light on his family’s wealth, attributing their success to their late father, Willington Jackson Sentamu. “Our dad was a former rebel,” Yawe revealed, explaining how his father’s expectations during the LRA war set the stage for the family’s determination to succeed.
He shared that their father lost much during the struggle, including farms and ranches. Despite these losses, Yawe and his siblings decided to fight for their future. “We lost many things, but we tried our best to get to where we are on our own,” he said. This spirit of resilience, he believes, is what has allowed their family to thrive.
Eddy Yawe emphasized that their family wealth is often misunderstood. “You’re just blowing it out of proportion,” he noted, acknowledging the public’s fascination with their success. Yet he insisted that many others in Uganda have achieved similar wealth, often without the same level of attention.
Before Bobi Wine and his siblings became political figures, they were recognized as some of Uganda’s most successful musicians. Their assets, while not always flashy, reflect their achievements and hard work. Eddy Yawe pointed out that their family’s success is a legacy that extends beyond just his immediate siblings.
“Our relatives in Gomba have also achieved this,” he said, highlighting the family’s deep roots in hard work and perseverance. “I hope we act as examples to those hustling, showing that they can make something out of themselves, even from a bad situation.”
