In the wake of recent events in Mbarara and Kampala that unveiled unsettling tribalism sentiments within the Ugandan music industry, Eddy Kenzo, the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has stepped forward to address the issue head-on. Expressing deep concern and a commitment to unity, Kenzo’s words resonate with a powerful call to action.
In his recent statement, Kenzo highlighted the absurdity of tribalism within the industry, emphasizing that unity should be the primary focus, especially during his tenure. He expressed disbelief that such divisive acts could unfold at a time when the industry should be celebrating its diversity.
Despite the holiday season and Christmas schedules, Eddy Kenzo did not hesitate to address the matter promptly. Directing the UNMF Secretariat to conduct a thorough investigation, Kenzo aims to get to the root of the issue and pave the way for a united and harmonious music industry.
Kenzo’s strong condemnation of acts of violence and tribalism sends a clear message – such behavior has no place within the Ugandan music scene. He stressed that the richness of Ugandan culture lies in its diversity and reminded everyone that one’s identity is not a matter of choice, but something inherent.
To rectify the situation, Eddy Kenzo has called on association leaders from Greater Ankore to collaborate with the UNMF Secretariat. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that sanity prevails within the industry and that music remains a unifying force rather than a source of division.
Eddy Kenzo’s resolute stance against tribalism and commitment to fostering unity within the Ugandan music industry is a commendable move. As we embark on a new year, let us echo his sentiments and work collectively to preserve the cultural richness and diversity that define Ugandan music. By standing together, we can create an industry that thrives on collaboration, inclusivity, and the celebration of our unique identities.
Greetings from the Uganda National Musicians Federation.
Hope all of you are well.
We wish you a great new year full of ambitions and achievements.
I have been following closely as events unfold both in Mbarara and Kampala about the tribal sentiments, and I must tell you it's…
