In a recent press conference brimming with tension, Cindy Sanyu responded to her rival, Sheebah Karungi, regarding their upcoming music battle slated for this month. Sheebah had thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Cindy to match her feat of filling the iconic Kampala Serena Hotel for a two-day concert, a feat she herself accomplished in 2022.
However, Cindy, during an interview with Sanyuka TV, revealed her reservations about hosting a concert at Serena. She asserted that the venue, with its capacity of accommodating 4,000 to 5,000 attendees at most, simply wouldn’t suffice for her vast fanbase.
Cindy’s reasoning was clear – if she were to grace the stage at Serena, it would require reserving the venue for an uninterrupted eight-day stretch to accommodate her legion of fans. This declaration came on the heels of her triumphant Boom Party concert at Lugiogo Cricket Oval in March 2020, where she mesmerized over 35,000 revelers. Remarkably, attendees were still streaming in even as the show reached its electrifying climax.
The self-proclaimed “King Herself” made it known that rather than grappling with Serena’s logistical limitations, she preferred an open-air venue to cater to her extensive fan following. With the music battle looming on the horizon for the 15th of September 2023 at Kololo Independence Grounds, Sheebah and Cindy Sanyu are poised to showcase their musical prowess, leaving fans eagerly anticipating this epic clash.
