In recent days, social media has been buzzing with speculations of a potential Blu3 reunion, fueled by nostalgic photos of the iconic Ugandan girl group. Cinderella Sanyu, the current Uganda Musician Association (UMA) president and former Blu3 member, has taken to the spotlight to dismiss these rumors.
Blu3, consisting of Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi, and Cinderella Sanyu, reached the pinnacle of fame with albums like “Hitaji” and “Burn” before disbanding in 2010. Recent photos of the trio ignited hopes of a comeback, but Sanyu, in clear and direct terms, addressed the hearsay.
Sanyu clarified, “We are not officially reuniting as Blu3. My solo career is thriving, and nothing will divert my attention from it.”
Despite the denial, Sanyu acknowledged the fervent desire of fans to witness the trio together again. She revealed ongoing discussions about collaborations and joint performances, ensuring the loyal fanbase that special shows might be on the horizon.
“We are collaborating and performing together, but Blu3 is not making a comeback. My career is progressing well, and I’m fully focused on it. However, we can come together for special shows,” stated Sanyu.
Fueling the anticipation, Lilian Mbabazi has announced “The Blu3 Reunion,” a show scheduled for December 14th, 2023. She urged music lovers to join the celebration, promising the revival of heartwarming melodies and unforgettable performances.
While Mbabazi and Jackie Chandiru express eagerness for the reunion, Sanyu appears to have a different perspective. In multiple media interviews, she voiced bitterness toward her former bandmates, citing their actions as the cause of her expulsion from the group.
Despite the apparent tension, Sanyu mentioned the fans’ requests for a proper send-off for Blu3, leading to discussions about a potential reunion concert next year. She also hinted at the possibility of new songs, revealing they are currently in the studio.
Blu3, formed in 2004, emerged from the Coca-Cola Pop Stars competition and captivated fans with their harmonies. The trio disbanded in 2010, but the recent stir on social media suggests that the magic of Blu3 may still have some chapters left to unfold.
