Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, an event promoter, has stated that revelers and artists who do not have their vaccination cards will be denied entry to his events.
The renowned event organizer made the claims in an interview with NTV following President Museveni’s official resumption of the night economy, which includes bars, clubs, and concerts.
According to Balaam, the entertainment industry has been on lockdown for two years, and people, particularly businessmen, have suffered significant losses as a result; therefore, people should respect the fact that Covid-19 is still in operation.
He also urged other event promoters, such as Abitex and Bajjo to follow in his footsteps by requesting vaccination cards from concertgoers so that Uganda does not go back into lockdown.
“Revelers who are not vaccinated will not attend my concerts. Everyone even artists will show the vaccination cards before they go on stage. We suffered a lot during lockdown, we don’t want to go back to the lockdown. Other events promoters should also be vigilant and mind about the health of all Ugandans.” Balaam Barugahara
Balaam also believes that requiring vaccination cards will not deter Ugandans from attending his concerts because everyone wants to be safe.
