In a shocking turn of events, the Ugandan authorities have apprehended Rasto Kalenzi, a prominent TikToker, following his disturbing claims of involvement in the recent ADF rebel attack that claimed the lives of innocent children in Kasese district.
On the fateful day of 16th June 2023, the Allied Democratic Front (ADF) launched a devastating assault on Lhubiriha Secondary School in Mpondwe, resulting in the tragic deaths of over 45 children and leaving numerous others with severe injuries.
As the nation grieved the heartbreaking loss of these young lives, Rasto Kalenzi took to his TikTok account, boldly declaring his affiliation with the ADF rebels and hinting at further impending attacks. He ominously warned Ugandans against entering the city on the 21st of June.
The video swiftly went viral across various social media platforms, catching the attention of the Uganda Police, who wasted no time in pursuing Kalenzi for crucial information regarding the ADF. Today, at the break of dawn, authorities apprehended 25-year-old Kalenzi in Namengo village, located in the Buikwe district. Currently, the police are holding him at Lugazi Police station, awaiting further investigations.
Contrary to his social media claims of being a boda rider, the police have uncovered that Kalenzi actually operates a small shop in Buikwe. This revelation has raised questions about his true identity and motives behind his shocking videos.
Remarkably, this is not the first instance where Kalenzi has propagated false claims. Recently, he garnered attention by asserting that he was the brother of Wilson Sabiiti, the army officer responsible for the demise of retired Colonel Charles Okello Engola.
The arrest of Rasto Kalenzi has opened a Pandora’s box of unsettling questions. What compelled him to fabricate such horrifying tales of involvement in heinous acts? Is he a mere attention-seeker or part of a larger propaganda machinery?
As investigations unfold, the authorities must delve deeper into this matter actively to uncover the truth behind Kalenzi’s claims and actively ensure that justice serves the innocent lives lost in the tragic attack on Mpondwe.
Ugandans actively remain united in their resilience, actively refusing to be swayed by fear, and actively standing firmly against the forces that actively seek to sow discord and harm in their peaceful nation.
