A devastating accident unfolded on Sunday in Nyanseke village, Muhorro town, Kagadi District. Reports indicate that at least 16 individuals have lost their lives in a terrible accident that occurred on the Kagadi-Fort Portal road. The accident took place around 2pm, when a trailer collided with a taxi, resulting in multiple fatalities.
The trailer, bearing the registration number UAD 431Q, was transporting fish towards Fort Portal. On the other hand, the taxi, identified as UBM 426V, was traveling back to Kagadi District from Fort Portal. Tragically, the identities of the deceased and the individuals currently receiving medical treatment remain unknown.
According to preliminary investigations, the ill-fated taxi was carrying a total of 19 passengers at the time of the collision. Shockingly, 15 people, including the taxi driver, lost their lives in the accident, while the remaining passengers sustained critical injuries and have been rushed to Kagadi General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Authorities suspect that the trailer driver failed to apply the brakes, leading to the collision with the taxi. This act of negligence resulted in the devastating loss of lives and severe injuries. In response to this horrific incident, the Albertine Police Department has launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the accident.
