Events promoter Abey Musinguzi, known as Abitex Promotions, has taken a firm step in a legal direction by initiating legal proceedings against Fangone Forest singer Alien Skin. The rift between the two escalated a few weeks ago when Alien Skin decided to revoke Abitex Promotions’ authority to organize his upcoming “Nkwacho” festival, originally slated for August 27th at Forest Park in Buloba.
The catalyst for this decision was Abitex Promotions’ failure to disburse the event payment to Alien Skin promptly—an amount totaling Ugx 100 million. The move triggered a heated social media debate, as both parties exchanged accusations and criticism.
In a significant turn of events, Abitex Promotions, through the representation of the Lunar Advocates legal team, served Alien Skin with legal papers outlining his intention to sue. According to documentation shared on Abitex’s social media channels, Alien Skin had initially agreed to a payment of Ugx 100 million for his participation in the Nkwacho festival. A deposit of Ugx 10 million had already been tendered to Alien Skin.
As preparations for the event unfolded, Abitex Promotions disbursed funds to various service providers, which included the following payments:
- Venue: Ugx 20,000,000
- Galaxy FM: Ugx 2,500,000
- Banners: Ugx 6,000,000
- Audio and Video Adverts: Ugx 2,000,000
- Public Address System: Ugx 15,000,000
- Other Media: Ugx 16,000,000
Abitex Promotions now seeks compensation in the amount of Ugx 71,500,000 to cover the aforementioned expenses. Alien Skin is expected to fulfill this payment within seven days of receiving the legal notice. Additionally, Alien Skin is required to pay Ugx 6,000,000 as legal fees to the Lunar Advocates.
At the time of writing, Alien Skin has yet to provide any comment on these legal proceedings. We will keep you updated with any further developments as they emerge. The clash between these two figures in the entertainment industry serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges that can arise in event promotion and management.
