On 24th February 2023, after months of anticipation, Jose Chameleone held his Ggwanga Mujje concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval. Prior to the concert, Gagamel chief Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool requested that his longtime nemesis Bobi Wine sends a representative or attend in person to show support for Jose Chameleone. Unfortunately, Bobi Wine did not honor Bebe’s request, leaving the former with a sour taste in his mouth.
While speaking to the media during the concert, Bebe Cool expressed his disappointment with Bobi Wine for not turning up. He reminded the media that in the early stages of Bobi Wine’s music career, Bebe and his team had helped him prosper by sharing the knowledge they had gained from their time in Kenya. Bebe Cool also stressed that it was shameful that Bobi Wine was not willing to return the favor and show his support for Jose Chameleone when the latter needed him the most.
The rivalry between Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine has been a long-standing one, and Bebe’s disappointment is certainly understandable. It is important for artists to show solidarity and support for one another, especially in times of need. It is also important for artists to remember and acknowledge those who have helped them in the past, without expecting anything in return. Bobi Wine’s decision to ignore Bebe Cool’s request on this occasion is therefore a disappointing one.
Ultimately, the Ggwanga Mujje concert was a huge success, despite Bobi Wine not responding to Bebe’s request. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Jose Chameleone and demonstrate unity within the Ugandan music industry. Hopefully, both Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine can put their rivalry aside in the future and come together to support and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.
