On December 26th, 2021, Loukman Ali’s film ‘The Girl In The Yellow Jumper’ became Uganda’s first ever Netflix release.
Ugandans have been anticipating the release of The Girl in the Yellow Jumper on Netflix since November.
On Boxing Day however, the film was made available for streaming on Netflix, a pay television over-the-top media service and American production company that provides subscription-based video on demand from a library of films and television series, with 40% of the content being original programming produced in-house.
‘The Girl In The Yellow Jumper,’ a one-hour and twenty-minute Ugandan thriller directed by Loukman Ali, was released in 2020.
In addition, the film, which stars several top Ugandan actors, tells the story of a man who escapes a hostage situation and returns home with a story to tell.
The film stars Maurice Kirya, Morocco Omari, Michael Wawuyo Jr, Rehema Nanfuka, Phillip Luswata, and Gladys Oyenbot, among others.
The ecstatic Loukman revealed how difficult it was to shoot the film because the heat in the location was “unbearable.”
Well, the hard work paid off handsomely. Congratulations, Loukman, and everyone else on the cast. A significant step forward for Uganda’s film industry.
