Chelsea has been charged for “failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.” During their premier league match against Liverpool on Saturday. The first charges relates to Chelsea players’ reaction to Liverpool being awarded a penalty at the end of the first half. Referee Anthony Tylor adjudged Reece James to have committed, a handball on the goal line and the defender was sent off as well as the hosts Liverpool being handed a penalty. Chelsea players surrounded Taylor after the decision, which was made after following consultation with VAR.
Several members of the squad also surrounded Taylor when the half came to an end.
The FA released a statement on Wednesday which read: “Chelsea FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their premier league fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday [28/08/21].”
“It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 48th minute of the first half and following the half-time whistle.
Chelsea FC has until Friday [03/09/21] to provide response to this charge.
Chelsea had taken an early lead during the fixture at Anfield through a Kai Havertz header. Tuchel’s side had to battle to a 1-1 draw, however, after Mohamed Salah converted the spot-kick that was awarded late in the first-half stopage time.
