The recent uproar over a trending video featuring singer Weasel Manizo, seemingly under the influence, has ignited a storm across social platforms. Among the voices chiming in, MC Kats stands out as the latest to weigh in on the matter.
Numerous figures within the entertainment sphere have voiced their discontent and clamored for decisive action. MC Kats, in particular, seized the opportunity to address the issue while responding to a post by Martha Kay on X. During his commentary, MC Kats highlighted a significant allocation of funds to the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), helmed by Eddy Kenzo.
His contention was that these funds could have been instrumental in establishing rehabilitation centers for struggling musicians battling addiction. To his dismay, Kats revealed that the federation members had diverted a substantial portion, totaling over 13 billion shillings, towards the acquisition of properties and other extraneous ventures.
For Kats, the crux of the matter lies in the missed opportunity to provide tangible support to artists grappling with substance abuse. He stressed that the most impactful investment would have been the establishment of dedicated rehabilitation facilities.
The disappointment is palpable in Kats’ tone as he laments the decline of artists like Weasel, once celebrated on international platforms such as the BET Awards, now mired in the quagmire of drug-related issues.
In a landscape where the spotlight often blinds us to the shadows lurking within, Kats’ call for action resonates with urgency. The need for concrete steps towards rehabilitating and safeguarding the well-being of artists looms large, eclipsing the allure of superficial pursuits.
